Senators Kerry, Brown To Introduce Elena Kagan At Confirmation Hearing

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) announced Thursday that Massachusetts Senators John Kerry (D) and Scott Brown (R) will introduce Solicitor General Elena Kagan at the confirmation hearing to consider her nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.  The hearing will begin Monday, June 28.

In the coming days, Committee is expected to announce a list of additional witnesses who will appear before the Committee following Solicitor General Kagan’s testimony next week.

The confirmation hearing will begin at 12:30 p.m.  Each Judiciary Committee member will be invited to deliver opening remarks, after which Kerry and Brown will introduce Solicitor General Kagan.  Following the introductions, Solicitor General Kagan will be sworn in, and will deliver opening remarks.  This is expected to occur at approximately 3:45 on Monday.
