On January 22, 2010, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) spoke on the Senate floor on the widespread devastation in Haiti, ten days after a deadly earthquake rattled the hemispheres poorest country. Just as Haiti was moving towards political stability and increased economic development, the hope of a new future was buried in rubble. Now is an opportunity to help rebuild Haiti better than it was before.
