Senator Leahy Calls For Cooperation On Disaster Aid

Senator Leahy gave an impassioned speech on the floor of the United States Senate on Tuesday calling on his colleagues to come together in support of Americans in need. Citing examples of bridges, roadways, homes and schools washed away in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene, Leahy highlighted the challenges Vermonters are working to overcome and called the objections of some of his Senate counterparts to legislation providing additional disaster aid funding unconscionable.
