Memorial Day Statement Of Senator Patrick Leahy

On this Memorial Day, Marcelle and I remember and pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service to the people and ideals of the United States.  Their devotion has left an indelible mark on the character of our country, and in remembering them this day we are called to carry on their struggle — one to make our land more free, more fair, and a boon to those who have the least.

As the Senate closes in on passage of the SFC Heath Robinson PACT Act, Marcelle and I also remember in a special way this year those who died after toxic exposure while serving, especially our dear friends from Vermont.  When the Senate returns, I look forward to carrying on the struggle to which they were devoted and supporting passage of this important bill.
