Leahy, Senators To Join With Military Spouses TODAY In Calling For The Confirmation Of Patricia Millett To The D.C. Circuit

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) will be joined by a host of Democratic Senators and military spouses at a press conference TODAY to call for the confirmation of Patricia Millett to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Millett’s nomination will be debated in the Senate this week.

Millett is nominated to fill one of three vacancies on the D.C. Circuit. If confirmed, she would fill the seat previously held by Chief Justice John Roberts. Millett has served in the Office of the Solicitor General under both President Clinton and President Bush, and argued 32 cases before the Supreme Court. Additionally, Millett is a military spouse whose husband served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Millett would be just the sixth woman to sit on the D.C. Circuit if confirmed.
