The Impeachment Of President Donald J. Trump - The Senate Trial

On January 21st, 2020, the United States Senate convened, for just the third time in history, to consider whether or not to remove a President of the United States from office. During the impeachment trial, senators serve as a unique combination of judge and juror, and take a special oath to do “impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws.” This is an oath Senator Leahy has taken several times. Each time he has made clear that he takes this oath solemnly and seriously.
